Quick Update - ADV 9

Today was day 9 of production, we’re more than halfway done. I’m still working on the production rhythm and these early morning starts, but I’m getting there.

I’m beginning to lighten up more and connect better with the cast and crew. They’re all really great people. I had a good conversation with one of the cast, whose pretty famous, and I was just struck by how humble and nice he was.

Had a talk with another actor and it was great to hear her concept of playing her role while keeping an eye on the content of the scene. She’d give the others space for them to play up emotion while she’d play it subdued to act as contrast.

Today was a good refresher in why I love film and acting.

Days 02 & 03 - ADV in NYC - Rehearsals, Film

Past two days been busy with prep work for the shoot. Also I’ve been able to drop in on rehearsals to help out and meet the actors, which has been great. Even got a chance to do a short improv with a child actor where I had to be a dad. The director has told me before I’d make a good Asian dad. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…

Found some free time earlier tonight to check out “L'Avventura” by Michelangelo Antonioni with co-crew member and friend, Richard S.

Kinda slow, but some very nice shots and an interesting exploration of loss and desire.

ADVANTAGEOUS Kickstarter just launched! Based on the short film with the same creative team and cast, Advantageous is about the extremes that a mother will go to in order to ensure her daughter’s future. As an Associate Producer on the feature film, I feel incredibly privileged to be part of such an amazing team and to help bring such a beautiful film to life.

The short film greatly resonated with me. It made me recall the sacrifices that my own mother made in order to raise our family and made me appreciate her incredible inner strength. That is why I’ve signed on to this project with full passion. With the feature, it will explore the dismal state of our education system, the pressures of society on women, and the sacrifices of mothers everywhere with even further humanity and beauty.

Check out the Kickstarter video above (which I directed and co-edited) along with the the page, and give what you can. We have great prizes and it’s for a worthy cause not to mention an awesome film.

Thank you. You rock.
